Authorisation

In order for us to act as your accountants, we may need to access information from HMRC on your behalf. Signing a 64-8 form and providing us with Digital Access (Online) will allow us to better manage your tax affairs. We are ICO registered which means we practice highest standard of care & follow protocol while liaising with HMRC on your behalf.

The ‘Authorising your agent (64-8)’ form covers authorisation for individual tax affairs (Self Assessment, partnerships, trusts, tax credits and individuals under PAYE) and business taxes (VAT, PAYE for employers and Corporation Tax).

HMRC will send copies of all correspondence to the person you’ve authorised – except tax bills or refunds. Otherwise, HMRC will continue to write to you

To appoint an agent to deal with your tax, we will use HMRC’s online authorisation service or complete form 64-8 and send it to HMRC.

WHAT IS 64-8 FORM

As part of the claim process, we will ask you to authorise us as your tax agent by way of a 64-8 Authorising your Agent form. This is an HMRC form that authorises us as your tax agent and allows us to discuss your tax affairs with HMRC. This means we can exchange information with HMRC on your behalf. We do this because to perform our services, we may need to discuss and share information with HMRC regarding your claim and tax records, which this form enables us to do. We will remain your tax agent until either of us removes that authorisation, or you authorise another tax agent.

WHAT IS A DEED OF ASSIGNMENT?

The Deed of Assignment (DOA) is included within your P87 Tax Claim form. A DOA is a contract that transfers to us the right to receive tax refunds on your behalf for the years relevant to the claim period. It includes the details you provided in your online application and is limited to the years specified on your claim form. We need the DOA because it streamlines both the claim and refund process. The DOA can only be removed by mutual consent (both your and our agreement).
